On July 11th, 2006, we sent our first album out into the big scary world. In the time that's passed, we've been around the world a couple of times, met a lot of people, and played a LOT of shows. We have two super cool surprises to mark the occasion...

We are planning on doing a whole lot of touring. So, if we don't make it to your town on this run, we will try to make it the next time. If you can make a small drive to see us play, you should totally do it. Because road trips are the best.

Whew! SXSW is over and my fair city is finally back to normal, my old and new friends are all back home, and my small house seems strangely empty now that there isn't anybody sleeping on the living room floor. Sorry for the lack of blog posts as of late, we have no excuse. But guess who is going to mix their new album in April?????

Getting There.

Last week's leg in the studio was very productive! As for now we have gotten all of the drums tracked. I know that doesn't sound like much but believe you me that is a big step! It means that we have all the songs arranged, the direction has been decided, and there is no going back. Actually there is going back, we could re-record all the drums if we wanted, maybe nobody else in the entire world will like that we are now a prog rock jam band. (we are not a prog rock jam band) and that the entire album was produced by Ziggy Marley (no, it wasn't). So yeah. We can do WHATEVER WE WANT.

We have a lot of the basic tracks like bass and rhythm guitars and such. So I guess what I'm trying to say is we're getting there! This next month will be very important. There is no textbook for how long the bass solo should be, or which rapper will guest appear in which song. Things like this take time, and time doesn't grow on trees. But in the tiniest and most inconsequential part of the course of the human race, amidst earthquakes, wars, shady politicians, NBC's horrible decisions and the final season of LOST, Oh No Oh My is writing their new album, and their goal is to be done recording by SXSW 2010. Thats like a month and a half! Now there's no guarantee we will make it, and the album would still need to be mixed, and then mastered. But that stuff is boring, and there won't be any video's of us sitting around demanding for more phaser on the vocals. Cause thats like a given.

So yeah, the light at the end of this "finish the album" tunnel is growing larger every day. Our goal is mid March. yeah!

I thought I would make a short list of my favorite music this past year. You'll notice a lack of "new" releases, as the only album I bought last year that also released last year was Bat For Lashes. Anyway, this is the music I've been listening to that's been inspiring me over the past year, with highlights noted in parenthesis.

1. Ella Fitzgerald - Sings The Jerome Kern Songbook (and pretty much any other songbook, but my definite favorite song is "Why Was I Born?')

2. The Beatles in Mono (Can't choose just one album, but my favorite song at the moment is "Martha My Dear")

3. Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One (Sugarcube...sooooo goooooood)

4. Burl Ives (just in general, but "Lavender Blue (Dilly Dilly)" and "Buckeye Jim" are highlights)

5. Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire De Melody Nelson (I love it all)

6. Bat For Lashes - Two Suns ("Siren Song" and obviously, "Daniel" are great)

7. Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out

8. The Zombies - Odyssey and Oracle ("Care of Cell 44")

9. Nico - Chelsea Girl

10. Joanna Newsom - "Sprout and the Bean" & "Peach, Plum, Pear"

WHEW! This last month has been busy busy. Christmastime = STRESSTIME. I have a huge family, which constitutes huge amounts of time and effort on gifts. I was also selected for jury duty for the second time in a few months. They keep telling me to take a week off for trial, threaten to fine me if I don't, then when I get there tell me I'm dismissed. GAH. This time I was kept for the actual selection part (last time they told me to go away pretty much immediately). Boy am I glad I didn't get picked. Boring!! Let me tell you. Lawyers asking you vague questions about domestic abuse for an afternoon is not as fun as it sounds! I'm so happy I didn't get picked! So happy in fact I thought I would spread a little holiday cheer. I have a bunch of christmas songs that I've reworked and arranged over the years and recorded in my humble abode as a gift for my parents. I know but still Christmas songs?

You know what this time of year is best for? YES correct horror films. I've compiled a list of movies that I have watched so far this month.

Thats it so far I think. Sometimes they run into together and I can't remember what I've watched and haven't. I need to see Zombieland, Survival of the Dead, and Pandorum as new movies go.

September 5th - Recording LP2

At the beginning of this video you'll see Tim and Jeff discussing the merits of recording a part for the instrumental end of Summerdays. It's hard to keep perspective when recording...you'll have an idea for something, and then want to see it all the way through, but sometimes it's time better spent just practicing with it at home to see if it works.

The rest of this video shows recording of the basics for an untitled song as of right now, but referred to as "Ghost Muffin" for no particular reason except those are the words the emit from Tim's mouth every once and awhile. Who knows what's going on inside his brain.

We tried at first to track the drums and piano live together, but I felt that it lent itself to too much of an open sound for the piano, so we just tracked the drums while I played through a Nord.

Later you'll see me start to track the piano for the song. I don't think we're going to keep it, as I'm not really happy with how I played it exactly. I might go back and play mostly everything an octave lower, and more simply...to get a more creepy sound rather than the upbeat rag time thing that you hear in the video.

But we've just finished another 3 days in the studio, and another 3 songs (maybe 2.5). Sounds pretty gooooooood. Joel is working on the videos, and I'll try and do better to post some commentary, as they are more fresh in the brain. We were able to get started much faster since all of our equipment was already loaded in and the drums were all set up and mic'ed from the day before. But still, getting all the chords and amps and patches and sounds and coffee and trying to wake up takes about two hours before the red light turns on, we are all ready and jeff hits record.

Summerdays. (or summerdaze) hehe

Me, Tim and Joel are in the live room while Daniel is in the isolation room all by his lonesome cause he's singing this song, and we don't want his voice in the drum tracks right? Right. Anyways, Joel hammers out the drums in as many takes as i can count on one hand, cause Joel is to drums as R Kelly is to flying, cause if you believe the impossible your dreams can come true. Did I just diss Joel? Do people say diss?

After drums we break for food and opt to get some Maudi's Tex Mex. We mistakenly decide to go during the prime time for tex mex dining because we had to wait forever to get a table and all the while a storm was raging outside. While the rest of us hung out and tried to stay dry under the overhang Brad and Tim bought some books at Good Will next door. Tim bought Strangers in a Strange Land. For dinner Joel ate chicken enchiladas for the second night in a row.

After drums and dinner it's my job, the big bad bass. Jeff brought his insanely large and red Reddi tube DI that made Daniel's already great sounding bass sound like butter (you can see Jeff taking it out of the case in the video).

Then where has the time gone?? Me and Joel have to play a show that night down the street so we pack up our stuff and head over to rock off some socks and whatever. While we are gone Daniel lays down acoustic guitar and Tim electric guitar and some vibraphone. I was gone so I'm not really sure how everything went down, but I do know that when we got back and listened it sounded killer, thus concluding day 2.

September 3rd - Recording LP2

So, we're going to be filming our record making process from start to finish, Joel will be editing the videos, and then we'll post it all here with additional thoughts and details in text form. You can ask questions in the comments if you would like, and one of us will probably respond to you.

I'm going to be somewhat verbose in the description of our day to day activities, so if you just want to get a sampling, you probably ignore everything below. But if you want the detailed play by play account, then read on:

Prologue-

So our friends from the band Corto Maltese introduced us to a wonderful fellow named Jeff Byrd earlier this year, whom they had been working with on their next album. So we met Jeff and he seemed like a nice enough guy, and offered to maybe take a stab at helping us record our next record. We met with him a couple of times, and finally got our schedules together so that we could go in and record for 3 days and try and get the basic tracks for 3 songs recorded.

We talked about various studios and what not, and decided (after visiting) to give a place called Public Hi-Fi a try. It's owned by Jim Eno of Spoon fame, and it's an awe inspiring set up. So many amazing microphones, a Neve Console, a 24 track Studer A827 (I believe), and more old compressors than anyone should know what to do with. (You can check out more here)

So it was kindof a no-brainer to record there, at least conceptually. It's a weird thing to be doing this all in a studio, seeing as this is the first time (for this band, at least) to ever let someone else record us besides ourselves. I've always assumed a lot of the responsibility for recording, but we decided a long time ago for the next record we wanted all of us to be able to focus on the music, and not have to worry about the technical aspects (or not worry as MUCH, at least, mewhahahaghasdgkljhasg). This is also the first time we'll be recording to 2" tape, and not straight into a computer. So that's a big deal.

ANYWAY. FLASH FORWARD to Thursday morning...

September 3rd - Day 1 of Tracking

We all met up at Tim and Joel's place to caravan over to the studio. It's only a couple of miles from all of us, which is nice. We brought more stuff than we could ever need. A short description:

2 Guitar Amps
1 Bass Amp
5 Electric Guitars
2 Bass Guitars
2 Full Drum Sets
6 various keyboards
and later an Accordion

We met Jeff at the studio at noon, and were introduced to the house engineer at PHF, Brad Bell, who would be assisting and being awesome for the duration for the session. He's a cool cat.

Most of the afternoon was taken up by loading our stuff in, getting everyone situated, and setting up drums and microphones. ONE of the great things about the studio is that there's mic inputs throughout the entire place. Everywhere. Literally.

So for basic tracking, the number one goal is getting a good drum take. If the other stuff is good enough to keep, that's great: but we're most concerned with drums. It was decided we would try out a drum kit that Jeff owns, which is almost exactly similiar to Joel's main drumset (both made by C&C), but the edges of the shells we used were sharp, whereas Joel's set has more rounded edges. So anyway, while they set up drums and got drum sounds, Tim, Greg, and I went to the store to stock up on some refreshments, and stuff. Shopping list:

2 cases of bottled water
2 cases of Orange Gatorade
2 cases of Red Gatorade
1 BIG box of Goldfish (crackers)
1 box of Wheat Thins (which come to think of it, I never had any)
1 box of Ritz crackers
1 block Colby Jack cheese
12 pack of Shiner Bock

So drums were set up while we were gone, we got back and they sounded great, little random microphone adjustments were made, blah blah blah.

Greg was isolated in a hallway of sorts, so he could sing and not piss anybody off (JUST KIDDING OH MY GOD SERIOUSLY). I stood next to Joel, playing bass. Tim played in the main tracking room as well, but his amp was located in the bathroom upstairs (...I said everywhere).

The goal for this whole session was to get basics done for 1 song each day, for a total of 3 songs. We decided to start with "You Were Right" as that's the song we've played the most so far, and are the most comfortable with.

I don't know about anybody else, but I was super nervous. I don't know why. I know how to play the bass. It's just "red-light-itus" or whatever. We probably started our first take around 5 or 5:30, and I'm not totally sure how many times we did it. 5? Maybe? 5 or 6. So anyway, we picked a take we all liked, and that Joel was most happy with.

It so happens that my bass playing on the take we decided to keep was definitely not my best performance, so Jeff suggested I take it again. Seeing as this was my first time going to tape, I was a little apprehensive about it all. I mean, after you record over something with tape...it's gone. Forever. There's no "undo" button. So after a little coaxing, I relented on the condition I could record to a new track, in case I really couldn't do any better. Much to my surprise, you could immediately tell the difference, and I had nothing to worry about. Silly me. I went through the song one time through, and then we went back and punched in little bits here and there. But I don't think the whole process took longer than 45 minutes.

And then I think we took a dinner break, and we all headed over to Magnolia Cafe.

We came back, and we took a stab at Greg's guitar track. We started with my Tele Plus and Twin...and that wasn't working (I'm going to take my amp into the shop tomorrow). So then we switched to Greg's Jazzmaster. Then we tried an old Silvertone amp (which you can see in the video). But that didn't work either. So we finally settled on a Fender Deluxe (after doing some research, I found out it's a 1961 Fender Deluxe). And then Greg tried playing a couple different ways, and it just wasn't working. After awhile he tried playing harder, and we turned them amp up more to get more overdrive out of it, and BINGO there was the sound. Cool. Good job, Greg.

Then Tim's turn came. He thought his scratch guitar that was recorded in the bathroom was pretty rad, but I was convinced he could do better, and we could get a better sound as well. I don't remember exactly, but I think we tried placing his amp in the iso booth first. Maybe not. But then they moved the amp out into the main room, and pointed it up towards the ceiling, which is about 40 feet tall, maybe? I don't know. It's really really really tall. Placed a close mic on the cabinet, blended it with another microphone that is located on the 2nd story catwalk above the tracking room...and then we let him turn his amp up. MAYBE the loudest thing ever.

So he took a pass...and it was awesome. Way better than before. Then we listened to playback...and it wasn't coming up correctly. Turns out, the tape head had gotten dirty from the tape, and Tim's guitar was recorded extremely low (that's the take you see Tim recording in the video). SO, he did it all over again. And it was different, but equally awesome. But it probably didn't matter much, because on the first take, for some reason, Tim's strap locks on his guitar are so rusty, that they vibrate through his guitar and make it all the way out to his amp. So we would've had to redo a lot of it anyway. He took off the strap for the rest of the session. You can actually hear a little bit of the squeaky guitar strap in the video, as well...right before he starts playing.

I think we then plugged a keyboard into his amp, and he played an organ part over the song. And that about wrapped it up for the day. I think we left around 12:30am.

Homebrew!

Just started getting into home brewing beer. Got soooo into it that i made a blog for it. Pretty lame but if you feel interested then go over to drivewaybrewery.blogspot.com.

We named it driveway because we do most of the process in the driveway on the propane burner. niiiiice!

We started with a Double IPA. Then a clone of the Live Oak Hefeweizen and the one we just started tonight was a Triple Chocolate Coffee Stout. I am not a huge chocolate lover personally but i think this beer will be pretty tasty.

I've finished the song about space. Its about a NASA pilot aborting a mission to explore the cosmos on his own. The idea of light years and the size of our universe blows my mind.

Tim's b-day celebration was fun. Booher and the Turkeyz and Royal Bangs melted our faces. Thanks to all of you who came out. I heard Year One was awful and it doesn't really suprise me. But I do like Harold Ramis and I do like Ghostbusters. I didn't know Harold Ramis was a director until some imdb searches let me know he's directed a lot of bad movies with an exception or two like Groundhogs Day.

I'm on season four of The Wire but my video store was out so I rented Tokyo Zombie and Body of Lies which for me gets a hearty thumbs down. Both of them. Tokyo Zombie was not funny and Body of Lies was plain and simple not that good. I was slightly entertained but mostly bored by both of them. I should just stick with The Wire.

So. I'm pretty into the TV show Skins. I'm excited about Dead Snow. (Nazi Zombies? oh yes) And maybe Year One...not sure about that one. I've been trying to write a song about the final frontier but eventually find myself singing about ground control and Major Tom, realize I'm getting nowhere and throw on a Bowie album. I just put on a censored version of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III which was actually donated to a home for abused children that has somehow found its way to my desk.

The best thing that has happened to me so far this week was that within the first 5 minutes of my jury duty yesterday I was told I wasn't needed and to go home. Seriously it felt like the judge declaring "not guitly". And the best purchase I've made so far this year has been my scooter. Yes it was worth trading in my car for it. And yes in retrospect I still would have let Daniel ride it for the first time and pretty much immediately crash it (aside from some scratches both he and the scooter were ok). That might have been the funniest thing I've seen all year.

Oh yeah and Tims MASSIVE b-day partay this thursday the 18th @ emos with our good friends Royal Bangs and Booher and the Turkeyz.

Tour was great. Thanks to everybody who came out to the shows you are all amazing and are the reason we are able to tour in the first place so thank you thank you thank you!! Our first night in Lubbock TX made us feel right at home, bringing some enthusiasm that was off the charts. Everybody is genuinely nice there too. One guy told me he was surprised that we were genuinely nice back, and proceeded to tell me how a lot of Austin bands that come through are snobby to the fine folks in the smaller towns of west Texas. I'm glad we don't come across as snobs, or at least not to that guy.

After a couple driving days we spent Tuesday night in Dodger Stadium catching LA rip it to the Mets. Always a good time. Ten dollar Coors...you can't beat that!

Sacramento was fun, especially talking to the door guy who explained to me the history of Oingo Boingo and Danny Elfman's transition into a big time composer. That night we were also graced with the music of Pelle Carlberg, who is another genuinely nice guy from Sweden who just so happens to write acoustic pop gems. You should take a listen.

Next day San Fransisco for the SF pop fest. We got there in the afternoon, checked out City Lights Books, then met up with our good friend Cory Branan who happened to be in town recording his new album. We spent the next few hours wandering around and mostly trying to find a place to pee. That night we played with four bands, one happened to be Pelle again and also another band from Sweden(I forget the name). Hanging out in the back room felt like Europe all over again.

Driving from SF to LA is an interesting drive. Passing dozons of dried up orchards each with a sign to explain that it is another "congress made dust bowl", to keep up you hit the speedometer governer at 85 mph only to find every driver still flying by. Then you experience the cold air of SF eaten alive by the desert heat, once again cooled off as soon as you hit LA. It's like somebody forgot to turn on the AC in between. The show that night was good, even if a bit too early.

Next day we played for an online site that I uh...can't remember the name for. But I think its much like Daytrotter.com. We will keep you updated for that. (we played two new songs_____ &_____). Then we went to see To Catch A Thief in a cemetery, which was awesome by the way. Tim made some chili mac, we ate heartily then fell asleep. Thus concluding our little tour.

We ate In&Out about 10 times in the 7 days it was available to us because it is delicious. I hear P Terry's here in home sweet home A-town is a lot like it but have yet to experience that for myself. If it is I will probably gain a lot of pounds out of pure gluttony turned into depression for some reason.

While on tour I read Moondust by Andrew Smith and started Welcome To The Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut. I went to see Drag Me To Hell and enjoyed it immensely, then the next day watched The Brothers Bloom and also enjoyed it, although for completely different reasons.
Well, my old friend is visiting town tonight and we are going to rent some awesome B horror movie. Any suggestions?

We will be starting a small west coast tour on Saturday. Well I guess maybe friday. We play in Austin on Friday. So I guess it starts on Friday. Sweet!

If you do not live where we are going and want us to come to your town im sorry. This is what we could do for now! so stop your complaining! we will be there or near there soon. Actually I don't care if you complain and send comments to our myspace saying COME TO PHILLY!! or COME TO AFRICA! Because i think it would be cool to go to Africa! But it also makes us feel loved that you would actually want US to come to your town. As long as you don't live in Yakima.

As in, I love March, not a social conduct we have to follow in March. I don't know, maybe it has something to do with the the spring like weather (here in Austin at least). Maybe it has something to do with the days ever so slowly getting longer. Maybe it as something to do with SXSW, but something about March just seems so optimistic is jolly. I don't know maybe its just me. Here in Oh No Oh My camp (yes, it is a camp) our March is being divided between writing and recording with a couple show splattered here and there. The first show is for the:

Yellow Bike Benifit Show @ Mohawk 3/8. The whole kit and kaboodle starts at 5, we go on at 9. Its bound to be a good time for all. And SOMEBODY STOLE MY BIKE. So maybe I'll build one there. Who knows? The possibilited are endles. Next up are a slew of sxsw dates that are TBD. Actually one is confirmed and you know the best part is its FREE. No wristband or any of that jargon needed. yeah, blew up. They're saying it's from a gas leak. luckily nobody was hurt because after becoming dizzy and smelling ridiculous amounts of gas the family who lived there went outside, only to have their home explode in their face. Like in a movie or something. Anyways I hope my home doesn't explode one day and I hope yours doesn't either. But if my home were to be destroyed (knock on wood) I'd rather it blow up then like...get flooded or something (which is lame).

We're working on some demos for the new album, I think we have about 8 or 9 songs. That's pretty exciting. Not as exciting as explosions or like...shark attacks but I'm excited. Has anybody seen Slumdog Millionaire yet? Isn't it the best movie you've seen all year? I think so, or maybe one of the best. I'm reading Naked Lunch right now. I've seen Cronenbergs movie but honestly, I don't remember a thing about it. The books always better than the movie anyways, right? Neil Young's Harvest is in my record player and Dr. Dog's Fate is in my cd player in the car. I hate taxes.

Sorry again for the lack of updates, i think we all slept for about a week once we got home (except for me I couldn't sleep past 8a.m. which is like, 3 p.m. in Europe, I'm just making excuses). Liege and Karlsruhe were absolutely amazing! Thanks guys for making the end of our tour so good. After the show in Karlsruhe we had to drive to Frankfort to pack our bags and catch our plane ride home. Unfortunately our timing was off and we got to the airport at 4a.m. which was 2 hours early. We decided it would be a waste of money to go to a hotel for an hour and a half so we stuck it out in the airport lobby until check in opened. I don't know what the other guys did but I found an empty booth in some cafe and crashed there worrying somebody would steal my passport out of my pocket and had bad dreams about ice buckets and stolen liver. I woke up to some German guy yelling at me which I assumed meant I wasn't allowed to sleep in his restaurant. It was very disorienting as you can imagine but luckily for me the 2 hours had already passed and it was time for me to check in with my passport and liver still in tact. The trip home was boring except I got to watch Step Brothers, Wall-E and the new god awful, extremely slow X-Files movie which was a waste of time even on a ten hour plane ride. But actually that was better than the plane trip to Europe where we watched The Nanny Diaries and Made of Honor.

Anyways now our lives are normal so there is not much to talk about. I went Christmas shopping today. How fun! We're starting work on the new album. What? Yeah new album. Stay tuned........

Oh yes and Joel's tooth has been pulled and even though there is a hefty dental bill Joel is now A-OK

Hello

Thanks to everybody who came out to see us play in Brighton and Paris. You guys are awesome. Except for the dude who kept stealing my drinks on stage. Seriously. Not cool. We're playing in the cafe of a movie theater tonight in Liege, its going to be pretty interesting but I'm looking forward to it. The last time we played in Liege it was a blast. Today we ate at McDonald's (again) and Joel bit into something hard in his Big Mac and chipped one of his teeth pretty bad. He's in a lot of pain and probably needs to go to a dentist, but we're in Belgium, so he's gonna try and tough it out until we go home on Thursday. If you have any advice on amature teeth pulling or some good remedies for a nasty tooth ache please share. Yesterday we were talking about how we need a McDonalds endorsement but now we're talking about suing them haha what a difference a day makes. sorry for the decrease in pictures I don't have any, Joel is the main picture guy, and everybody else went to go see Quantum of Solace. I opted out to walk around Liege a bit. Anyways you guys rule we'll post some more pics as soon as we can. See you soon!

we have been so busy and have so much fun you don't even know! We haven't had time to update this blog. We played in Glasgow tonight and it was awesome. Tom is really bummed because we were gonna go to a house party near our hotel but now nobody wants to go but him. If you are reading this and you were the one that invited us to the party then we are super super super sorry but you know things happen and people get tired and i can come up with more excuses but we still didn't go.

Drove from Bordeaux to Paris today and heading to London tomorrow. We went out and got some dinner at this nice little restaurant near where we are staying. Everybody got spaghetti but me and Dima. I got the pizza. I have no clue what Dima had.

The show in Bordeaux was a lot of fun. Thanks everybody who came out to it! I wish i had a picture of what it looked like. We played in the basement of this bar but it was like a cave. Hard to explain but it looked awesome!

I haven't taken a picture in a couple days sorry about that. Ive just been sleeping a lot. What else is new right?

Today was an interesting day. We woke up in Cologne, Germany and drove a couple hours to Brussels, Belgium where the Factory Festival was. Got a little lost because the directions were bad....or we are just stupid and couldn't figure them out. Either way it took a little thinking to get there. Pretty cool festival and we ran into who we thought maybe could be David Gilmore...but of course he wasn't. The festival was awesome and we had fun playing but it was SOOO COOOLD!!! i thought my hands were going to fall off. The drumsticks were so freakin cold. It was obviously outside. Daniel said he couldn't feel his hands at all. It is always weird playing on a stage this size. (huge) but i think we pulled it off ok!

So now we are in our very very nice hotel. Probably the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. We went to the sauna and the pool earlier and i mean WOW that was just what we needed. We all walked around the hotel in bathrobes that you get in your room. Oh and slippers. here are some pictures.

So today was a driving day. Long....Boring...Driving day. We started in Malmo Sweden and ended up Cologne Germany. All i did all day was sit in a van seat and watch Californication on dvd. Great show. Blah Blah sorry boring blog.

Pretty awesome. we met up with our friends we met at the show last night Hanz and Franz (Vinnie and Andy) and they took us to the Vingeland Park and we saw lots of naked sculptures but really awesome stuff. It was sooo cold. Being from Texas i didn't think this kind of cold even existed. But now i know. its insane.

Mcdonalds....Good? Bad? Ugly?

Well we are here in Europe after 30 million hours of travel. Well it seemed like that long. But right now we are in Oslo, Norway. We flew into Germany and then drove up to Denmark and then up to Norway. Long drives but they are very pretty!

This morning we had McDonalds for breakfast and i was super excited!!! and for all of you who are mcdonalds haters....ITS DIFFERENT IN EUROPE! Mcdonalds here is awesome, amazing, incredible and the best thing you could ever want.

The show in Copenhagen was fun. But after that much traveling and then playing a show that night was a little crazy. So you can tell how the show went. Good? Bad? Ugly? You will never know...unless you were there.

For the second time this year, we'll be making our way over the Atlantic to play some shows all around Europe. We were happy enough to go once, so going back is twice as nice. We're also going to some places we weren't able to make it to last time, like Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Norway, and (hopefully) Sweden.

R.I.P. cell phone

So on Sunday it was SO HOT and all day I planned on going swimming. I couldn't wait to surround myself in the cold water. I don't really swim, I just float around, get out until I'm too hot, and then jump back in. Its wonderful. Now on Sunday, although the pool is only 5 blocks from my house, I was sweaty by the time i arrived. So I quickly put my stuff down, ripped of my shirt and jumped in, then realized 15 minutes later my cell phone was still in my pocket. Water is the cell phone's kryptonite, just the smallest amount will destroy it. After 15 minutes completely submerged I was surprised my phone was still recognizable. It now weighs twice as much as usual and sometimes makes a hissing/white noise sound that won't stop until I throw it against the wall. I've now been without a cell phone for the last three days, and i'm sure this has happened to just about everybody, but I feel like I've lost my left hand and am walking around completely naked. I'm even having cell phone withdrawals. About 10 times a day my leg feels vibration and I KNOW that I was supposed to receive a call at that moment, although my phone is sitting lifeless on the bedside table. And every time i go out i have a panic attack after I pat my pockets and find something is missing. Its like my identity was stolen. I am just another face in the crowd, nobody can reach me at any given moment. I cannot contact my friends or family because the numbers are saved in my dead cell phone. Luckily my computer still works and I can send emails and write blog posts. If my computer was to break before I got a cell phone replacement, I would probably disappear forever.

I've been reading The Wind Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. If you are a fan of really good books you should probably read that one. Also if you like good movies you should watch Wristcutters: A Love Story, or perhaps Into the Wild. Recently my favorite place to drink coffee and enjoy the good weather we've been having is on the patio at Quacks Fourtythird Street Bakery.

I tried to get tickets to Wilco but both days sold out too fast, am trying to decide if I want to sit on the lawn for Radiohead, and missed Feist the other day. Oh me and a friend are remixing Nude, if its decent at all I think I will post it, I don't think we will be done in time for the actual contest. Right now it sounds like something Air did off of the Virgin Suicides soundtrack. That might change though who knows.

The new songs have been coming along well. Our next album will sound a little different, probably. I think its impossible not to be. Our plan is to write songs that are more mature, the problem is we are all big babies =/. Once all of us are together again we will start recording, I think...probably beginning/mid May. I know we've taken our time with this one. Its a little disheartening when I think about bands like animal collective putting out two new albums since we've put out ours. We're figuring out this industry. Plus we want to make sure this gets done the right way, and is not rushed. We do have knew songs though, some people have heard them.

I'm about to take another trip to Ikea to buy a new dresser. I've been there around 12 times these last couple of weeks. Its great. I don't know what I would do if it wasn't around. Kind of like the internet.

I wonder what the next big thing is gonna be, you know where people will look back and say "how in the world did I get by without -------?" I hope its flying cars. That needs to happen already.

SXSW:::LOU REED TRIBUTE

SXSW was a lot of fun for us this year. I mean it's always fun but this year was way more fun then we thought we could possibly have. Especially coming straight from Europe the day before. Our first show was a Lou Reed Tribute Show. We were all pretty nervous about playing this. Except for Tim. (but i think he is a liar!) We were asked to play this while we were in Europe and we never really got a chance to practice the songs while we were over there. And the only real practice we had was the day of the show for a little amount of time. So you can understand why we would be a little nervous. Right? ... Right! But the show was amazing. The crowd was diggin' it. We were diggin' it and I think Lou Reed was into it as well.

We played Hank Sinatra's again this year. Always fun. But this year we all got really bad sunburns. So we looked like those manikins that they have at sports stores. The really red ones. Ever seen those? Well yeah...it was bad!

Then Sat. night we played our showcase at buffalo billiards. Lot's of people turned out for that and made it a great time. If you live in Austin and you have never been to Buffalo Billiards then you really need to go check it out. The best tables in town! Great food. (try the broccoli and cheese bites...delicious) Great time!

So that was our SXSW 2008 experience. Peace!

France (it's Tim's fault that this is just going up now)

OK. This is a blog post written by our good friend Britt Haraway. He sent this weeks ago when we were still in France. I am an idiot and didn't realized that this blog entry was attached to the email. So without further ado......

First, I have to admit that I am a big Tim Regan fan. He is the kind of friend you have that, no matter how long you’ve been away from him, you can pick it right back up, using the old jokes and making new ones.
This became clear when I got to L’ecole Polytechnique, an engineering school in Nantes, France. Tim met me out front of a building somewhere in between the Jetsons and some of the Pentecostal churches I’ve seen with all the glass and the multifunctional gym room, which is where the guys played. We shook hands—he’s got some new fangled routine of hand explosions and hand taps—and passed some kids dancing to the pre-show music. Tim said, “Those kids look like they are on acid.” But further down the hall, I suggested they were “special” and he felt bad.
Tim is a nice mix of energy and heart. I like it. He took me up to meet the other members of Oh No, Oh My, all good lads. Daniel loves Europe, takes pictures of everything, but I think he is wondering how he will survive as the only morning person in the band. Joel is sleeping well, verging on Narcolepsy. When he is not melting faces with his drumming, he is in the loft, a small dangerous bed above the equipment in their Mercedes Benz stretch van. That’s right ladies, a Benz.
Greg can be seen tilting a MacBook in some European Wifi Zone Skyping his girlfriend. I found him quiet and observant, perhaps walking the streets with his own soundtrack playing. The commercial for Ipod actually got this right. An Ipod creates space around you, and you walk a little more confidently because you have this secret, a great playlist that makes the city less oppressive, the anonymity a choice; it coats the old buildings and trees with a fine sheen where the world is narrated through your eyes, through your “I”, in your own voice or one that you like very much.
So, although I didn’t get to chat with Greg as much, I have a feeling that he is enjoying the place through a secret lens. I know for a fact that they all got a kick out of signing autographs after the show in Nantes. Daniel takes up a good third of the poster, and Greg has the doctor problem where it would take the FBI to read his name.
During a pepped up number, a man dressed as Big Bird made an appearance and got a small crowd surf. When they played the song bought by the cell phone company Orange, that’s two syllables en Francaise, the crowd got out their cell phones. Anyone who thinks that advertising “doesn’t work” is a fool.
Tom has done good work managing the tour. They get free meals and he gives them nifty handouts of their schedules, and I believe they’ll be in an upcoming Dairy Queen commercial, which is, for my dollar, good dairy.
The other folks that rode with us were Celine and Dema. Celine helps with the management, especially the French—I for one saw her stand her ground when telling a sweaty French mover to quit blocking the Rue. Demas is the driver; he’s a Czech and has a way getting the huge van down cobbled, medieval streets. He also introduces the band saying, “What up, Dog?” No one but the band understands this phrase (you can guess who taught it to him).
Celine is trying to teach the guys some French and to negotiate the various cultural differences. For instance at dinner in Nantes, Demas was told that he was “taking too much cheese.” The place we stayed after the show was very cool. It was a converted barn twenty minutes from town where Julie and her husband-type man live. He paints and she is into music and design. It is the kind of setup you’d want if you ever get married, where creativity is still the focus, but it is supposed to happen in the same place every night.
Next was Bordeaux. It was a solid set, perhaps better than the first night because of the intimate venue. It was in a basement cave with low ceilings and good sound. Although Tim bumped his head a few times when he jumped, I preferred this show because the guys really fed off the heat and the almost mandatory participation that such a small club inspires.
The highlight of Bordeaux was walking down to the river after the sound check. We all had some free wine (from Spain for some reason), and the weather was great, about sixty degrees, and the moon was big and had just cleared the bridge, which was lit up too, these medals engraved on the arches that Tim said looked like the Grateful Dead Steal your Face. We had a smoke on the quay, and everyone was in a good mood: Daniel taking weird-angled pictures resting the camera on your shoulder, Tom asking people to feel the soft material of his new jacket, Joel skipping a rock, Tim talking about the historical importance of water, and Greg saying he was “just glad we came.” I was envious at that moment that I had no band. Certainly bands hate each and back bite and try to destroy each other, but there are also moments when you can see “the bond,” an envelope that surrounds four people, eight arms to hold you, or to keep you at a safe distance.

We are finally in England. Last nights show was kind of a disaster but turned out really cool. We blew up all the power at Freebutt and ended up playing a somewhat acoustic somewhat not acoustic show. But I really enjoyed it and thanks to everybody who came out even if you didnt think we were going to make it! We were really really late thanks to a very lame ferry from France!

Today was a day off that we spent getting all the things we needed for the rest of our shows in England. Power connectors and converters. yippeeee!

We got soooo much done in Paris. Eiffel Tower! The Louvre Museum and saw the the Mona Lisa and a bunch of other cool stuff! We went to Notre Dame during mass! How cool is that? Anyway we had a really fun day walking and taking the train around Paris. The town is soo pretty (well parts of it). After all that sightseeing my feet were sooooooooo tired. We went back to the hotel and got some pizza and wine and chilled. Hopefully soon Tim can post something about his time in paris at night :) haha

Haarlem, Netherlands

Last night's show was pretty cool. When we first pulled into town we got lost in this weird Labyrinth neighborhood and then finally made it through to the club. On our itinerary it told us that we would park inside the venue.....and we did. It was awesome! you probably don't know how much of a pain it is for a band to pull into a city they have never been before unload equipment and then find a parking spot for the van and a spot where you wont get a ticket or get towed away. The spot we had last night was actually INSIDE the venue. Safe and sound. AMAZING!

We had some delicious beer called Hoegaarden. It tasted like a LOT better version of blue moon. ( I dont like blue moon) Played a good show on a smalllllll stage. But it was fun!

So after the show we got in the van to head to the hostel for the night and tim went out with his cousin who is in the army and is stationed about 2 or 3 hours from Haarlam. Well we gave tim the paper we had with the address on it and he left. Soon after our GPS froze and we had no idea how to get to the hostel. I was feeling really tired so i climbed up into our loft in the van and fell asleep. Turns out the guys spent 2 hours trying to find the hostel and i had no idea. It felt like a 5 min car ride to me!

Anyway, that was Haarlam. Sorry no pictures. yet :)

Prague was the most beautiful city i have ever seen in my entire life. Our driver is from around here so he showed us to this restaurant and had the best food i have eaten all tour! We went down to the town square and saw some really cool clock and when it hits every hour the 12 disciples come out through the windows. Pretty awesome.

The show went really well. We met a lot of cool people and had a lot of fun playing!! After the show is when the real party started! We went and checked into our hostel and went to a bar called The Blind Eye. Most of the people from the show were there and we danced until around 5 in the morning. It was AWESOME. Dancing is pretty fun!

Hamburg, Germany/ Berlin, Germany

Right now we are all sitting in the club in Prague. Daniel is playing foosball with our driver Dima who is from around here. This is the first time since hamburg i have been able to get online and post. Sorry for the lack of posts lately.

Hamburg was a lot of fun. I mean a LOT of fun. The club was called Hafenklang Exil. The workers there were very nice. It's amazing how different we get treated in Europe than in America. Its much better in Europe! Ha. We stayed in the clubs apartment downstairs which was really cool. We had a really good crowd turnout. Met a lot of nice people and then we went out on the town.

We went down to the Red Light District in Hamburg. It was about a 10 minute walk from the club. We saw the club that The Beatles first started playing music at. Pretty amazing. We went to this bar and played foosball with some locals and OH MY GOSH!!! I have NEVER seen anybody play foosball like that. Made us look REALLY REALLY REALLY bad. The guy did bank shots off the side and right into the goal. Blew my mind.

Berlin. Berlin. Berlin. Wow. I had the time of my life in berlin. My feet hurt the next morning from dancing so much at the After Party for the show. Before the show we walked around the town a bit in the freezing cold looking at museums and big awesome buildings and water and all that sweet stuff. Berlin is just a beautiful city.

Our friend Allison from Nashville, TN who is now living in Dresden, Germany came out to the show and it was so good to see her. It had been too long! All in all Germany was AWESOME!!! Good beer. Good times.

Copenhagen, Denmark

We are in Copenhagen. Finally! The process getting here was very fun, exciting and interesting. Long plane rides, train rides, van rides and boat rides. As soon as we got off the plane in London Tim got his credit card eaten by a machine. But we all felt better when we found out it was Fashion Week in London. We walked into our hostel for the night/day and there were many many many beautiful women in there. WOOEFK AFOEFALDMF AO F$AO FEAWO FKAOFDALSF KALD FA WOO HOOOOOOO

Now that Tour is over for the year???

So we are finally back in austin doing a whole lot of nothing. Just kindof hanging out. I think we will start practicing and recording again this upcoming monday, but the week of nothing was very well needed. We are recording and writing a bunch of new songs at the house and getting ready to get a new set together for next year.
so here is a prose poem from Charles Baudelaire for his book "Paris Spleen".

"BEAT UP THE POOR"

For fifteen days I had shut myself up in my room and had surrounded myself with the most popular books of the day (that was sixteen or seventeen years ago); I am speaking of the books that treat of the art of making people happy, wise, and rich in twenty-four hours. I had digested-- or rather swallowed-- all the lucubrations of all the purveyors of public happiness-- of those who advise the poor to become slaves, and of those who encourage them to believe that they are all dethroned kings. It will be readily understood that I was in a dazed state of mind bordering on idiocy.

There is, however, this difference between Socrates' Demon and mine, that his Demon appeared to him only to forbid, to warn or to prevent, whereas mine deigns to advise, suggest, persuade. Poor Socrates had only a censor; mine is a great affirmer, mine is a Demon of action, a Demon of combat.

Suddenly-- O miracle! O bliss of the philosopher when he sees the truth of his theory verified!-- I saw that antique carcass turn over, jump up with a force I should never have expected in a machine so singularly out of order; and with a look of hate that seemed to me a very good omen the decrepit vagabond hurled himself at me and proceeded to give me two black eyes, to knock out four of my teeth and, with the same branch I had used, to beat me to a pulp. Thus it was that my energetic treatment had restored his pride and given him new life.

I then, by many signs, finally made him understand that I considered the argumant settled, and getting up I said to him with all the satisfaction of one of the Porch sophists: "Sir, you are my equal! I beg you to do me the honor of sharing my purse. And remember, if you are really philanthropic, when any of your colleagues asks you for alms you must apply the same theory which I just had the painful experience of trying out on you."

End of Tour!

Well the Tour is now officially over. We played our last show in Chicago last night at The Empty Bottle with The Deadly Syndrome. Last night's show is actually our last out of town show we will play for the rest of the year. So if you live in Austin or around Austin you can see us play at Trophy's on November 8th with Abby Birds and a solo set by Tim Regan.

We had a lot of fun this tour with The Deadly Syndrome and if you didn't get a chance to see them then you should definitly check them out. Daniel and I agree that they put on one of the best live shows we have seen this year. Incredible group of guy's playing some incredible music. Just because the tour is over does not mean that this blog is over. We will still be posting some random, funny, serious and thoughtful posts until the next tour. So keep checking in and have a wonderful Halloween!!

uhh...Brooklyn, NY to Toronto, ON...a bunch of days

There would be more pictures in my posts if my camera actually co-operated with my computer. So until I get a new computer, prepare for globs of text.

Friday:
In reference to things we might do on one of our days off in New York, we only did one...and only two of us did it. Tim and I made it out to the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) on Friday, which was in particular a good day to go (as we had planned), because Target sponsers FREE TICKETS for the museum for 4 hours on Friday night, which usually cost $30. So we went in and saw Art, and some of it was way lame...(ropes hanging from ceilings in my humble opinion....is not art) but some was really cool. For instance, I saw a bunch of really cool Picasso sketches of Minotaurs in various scenes, which was very creepy/cool.

My favorite thing I saw was a series of 3 paintings by René Magritte.
I have pictures of them...but...my camera doesn't work, remember? Here's what they looked like though:

Anyway, I really liked those.

Before that, Tim and I hit up the infamous Carnegie Deli, which we eventually found after walking the wrong way for a lonnng time. The sandwiches were HUUGE (I'll post pictures later), and filling. We also incidentally passed by "The Friars Club", which was super awesome to me, as it was one of the main focuses of an entire episode of Seinfeld.

Saturday:
We got up really early and headed over to the Music Hall of Williamsburg for our final show of CMJ. Incidentally, it was the same venue we had played our last CMJ show LAST year (Northsix)...but revamped and renamed. We pretty much got screwed on our set time because Trail of the Dead took way tooooo long and didn't really help us out. But whatever. It was fine. We spent most of the day watching bands play, which was fun and cool. We saw Mika Miko, Anna Ternheim (really really cool Swedish singer/songwriter), Islands, Will Sheff (from Okkervil River, whom Tim is friends with), and finally And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead.

Sunday:
We made our way to Boston, first stopping at what Tom, (our manager, aka "Major Tom") deems as the best pizza place in the world, to pick up a slice or 2 to compare Chicago to New York pizza and so on. I liked it very much, and was above par as far as most pizza is concerned, but Tom insisted I didn't get the "true" version of it, because I ordered the pre-cooked slices and not a whole pie. But whatever, we didn't have time for a whole pizza, and we'll be back in New York soon enough.

We stopped by Matthew's office (our awesome Lawyer) to pick up a keyboard we had dropped off there from a previous tour, and headed to Boston.

We had already figured out that that night was going to be the worst possible night of the year for us to be playing in Boston......it was game 7 of the ALCS, and the game was in Boston. So not a lot of people at the show, but it was understandable.

Monday:
Got a late start, dropped off and said goodbye to Tom, and started driving towards Toronto. We made it to Henreitta, NY, just outside of Rochester.

Tuesday:
Which brings us to today! Previously, we have had really really really bad experiences of traveling into Canada. Our average Customs/Immigration stop has been about 4 hours, and has included interrogation, intimidation, and confiscation of our entire van, and taking everything out and searching through every last bag.

So, today we were prepared for our usual crappy migration, and found that 2 members of the Deadly Syndrome hadn't even brought passports or birth certificates, which is required to get into Canada. So imagine our surprise when they (traveling an hour or so ahead of us) made it through in roughly a half an hour, and didn't have to even pay taxes on their merch. Uhhhhh.....what??? I figured fate still hated us, and we would personally be there at the border trying to talk our way into Canada for a couple hours.

We pulled up to the booth, handed them all our paperwork and passports...and they sent us right on through. HOLY CRAP! This hasn't happened in well over a year! Joel was so in shock he was still convinced that "that couldn't be all there was", and thought we had to pull over. But no! Free and clear, the Customs agent barely looked at our paperwork. Could today possibly be the best day of our lives??

We recently updated our GPS, and doing so, it somehow erased all the map information for Canada. So we're flying (driving) blind in Canada, which is not something we're accustomed to doing. Luckily, we pulled alongside the likes of the Deadly Syndrome driving in their van, who has a working GPS, and followed them to the Venue.

Upon arriving to "Sneaky Dee's", a Canadian Tex-Mex (*snicker*) Restaurant/Venue where we're playing tonight, we found that we couldn't load in or do anything until 7pm...which gave us 3 hours to kill. We all (TDS included) walked down the block and got some food stuff for our bellies from a Greek Restaurant (and I found out you pronounce the word Gyro like "euro"...not "Jie Row", like a Gyroscope). And now i'm sitting inside of our van parked on the street, and happened to find free wireless internet, so I thought I would take the time do overload you with my verbose entry.

Brooklyn, NY - 10.19.2007

As I lay here waiting for Tim, Tom, and Joel each to awaken from their respective slumber, my mind wanders over changes in the last year. The first and foremost...how now I find it much easier to fall asleep on a blow up mattress (though it is a rather nice mattress), rather than my own normal bed at home. I've probably spent more time this year upon this piece of portable furniture, from which I now type, than anywhere else.

It's a somewhat sad thought. Aimlessly (not really) wandering the country, plopping down rubber and filling it with air wherever we might find ourselves for a night. Plopping a sleeping bag on type, dropping a pillow, and resting my head here every night. I've reversed my own normalcy to that of being uncomfortable on my own bed in Austin, to falling asleep much easier on this Aerobed from Bed, Bath, And Beyond. It's fine, I guess. It just seemed to me as a weird juxtaposition between "normal" life, and "on the road" life.

Sorry I don't have any pictures from what we did the past couple days. But I thought I would fill anybody in nonetheless.

Wednesday:
Joel, Tom, and myself got up rather early (9am) to go have a little meet and greet with Justin from AAM (Advanced Alternative Media) who does our radio promotions. So it was a long walk from Mark's house (the friend with whom some of us are home invading) to the subway stop, and then a ride on the subway to Manhattan, and then 8 blocks to their offices. We met, gossiped for awhile, and then made our leave. Tim was supposed to have met us there, as he was only staying 1 freaking block away from the AAM offices...but I got a text message from him at 11 (when he was supposed to be there) with only the word "Nope".

We had made plans to go to some sort of TV show taping, whether it be Conan, Letterman, The Daily Show, or The Colbert Report, and I had even gone as far as to actually acquire online reservations for the Daily Show, but then Tom found out that we were going to do this photoshoot thing in Brooklyn, and then had to be at Galapagos at 5 to do a soundcheck for our show there later that night at 12:30. So we canceled the Daily Show tickets (for fear of being forever blacklisted from future taping opportunities), and made our way back to Brooklyn. The timing for the photoshoot didn't work out, so we made plans to do it the following day. So we laid low, and then made our way in our Van over to the Galapagos for soundcheck.

So we get there at 5pm, load our stuffs into one room, then told we don't need drums, among other things, and load the drums back into the van. We then find out that we're playing in a different room on the side, called the "Side Stage", and start moving our stuff into that room. There's no drums set up on this new stage, so, we load the drums back inside. And again after we finish doing all this, we're told we don't need drums yet again. So back they go! Hoorah! So we're hanging out for awhile letting the super nice sound dude Tim get a handle on his situation and set his own equipment up. We leave and go get some coffee, and by this time it's 6:30 or so. We get back from coffee, and it's decided that (as I and everyone had already felt) there was no need for a soundcheck, and we should just pack up our stuff back into the van and head to the next venue where we were playing a show in Manhattan at 11pm.

So off we go....over the bridge and to the Delancey, our next venue. We found a really really awesome parking spot, unloaded our stuff down some stairs, and filled time for the next 4 hours. We played right after a band called Foreign Born, which I only saw one song of, but I liked what I heard. It was a small stage and small room, but energetic and lively....a pretty awesome show. We kept it a short set, as we had about 30 minutes to load back into the van, drive over the bridge back to Brooklyn, unload at Galapagos, setup, and play. Somehow we made it in time, got our stuff ready and played. It was a somewhat crappy show for me personally, because I had already been super tired the whole evening, and was kindof "played out", and then I broke a string, which kindof threw me off my game even more. There weren't a whole lot of people there to watch at all, but I guess it was fine.

Then for me and Joel and Mark's roommate Mike, it was off for bed.

Thursday:
Annie from Au Revoir Simone had been at our show at the Galapagos the night before, and invited us all to her house for Brunch with her and her awesome husband Doug (he plays drums for Dirty on Purpose). Me and Joel made our way over there around noon, followed by Greg and his girlfriend. We had a pleasant brunch, filled with enthralling conversation, and then said our goodbyes.

Back to Mark's, we chilled for awhile, and then made our way over to where we were having our Photoshoot at 5pm, with a quick stop at my most favoritist music store in the country, Main Drag Music. Joel and I perused the shop for little bit, not lingering for too long as to not become forlorn for the things we could not buy, and left empty handed. I did see one of the dudes from TV on the Radio there, though.

We went over to our publicists office, where we were supposed to rendezvous for the photoshoot, waited for Tim and Greg to show up, and went and took pictures. yay. It was quick and painless for the most part, but always awkward as I'm beginning to find out they always are. We finished, and then Tim, Joel, and I went to a rare full sized supermarket and bought grocieries to make Spaghetti, and went home. We made dinner, watched the Office, Boston/Indians game, and then Conan. And then I went to bed.

Which brings us to the present. Today the plans include riding the Staten Island ferry, going to a taping of the Colbert Report, and if not that, go to the MOMA for free, and eating at some sort of notable New York establishment. But as it is right now, it's 12:30 and half of us are still in bed asleep (Joel has since risen from slumber in the time it has taken me to write this post). So we'll see what we actually get to do.

Tomorrow we have one last show in Brooklyn, a showcase/party for AAM, and then we're off again with The Deadly Syndrome for our last 4 shows of the year.

Newport, KY / New York City, NY 10.16.2007

Southgate House was fun. Not that many people. I think I could count them all on my hands but it was a fun show. Last time we were there we ate at a really good restaurant called Bar Louie which is located right across the street inside this mall. Well turns out this time we decided to go back there and eat again. I had this wonderful mac and cheese with shrimp. YUMMMY.

Today we drove around New Jersey for a while. We were at a Dunkin Donuts getting a delicious breakfast and met this nice gentlemen who was trying to get a taxi to the airport. Since we had nothing better to do we gave him a ride and he turned out to be really cool. Then we hung out with our AWESOME lawyer Matthew Kaplan for a while and had lunch. Then we drove 4 miles to Brooklyn but it took us about 3 hours. That SUCKED. Chillin in Brooklyn tonight. Everybody come out to the shows this week!

Made it to New york city last night. Dropped off Greg at his girlfriend's house. Sorry ladies Greg is not single. Had a delicious dinner with our good friend Jeff then drove out of the city to a hotel in hackensack, NJ.

I hate it when you go to a hotel that advertises "FREE HIGH SPEED INTERNET" then when you get there no internet at ALL. Then they call you at 11 am and yell at you "CHECK OUT TIME CHECK OUT TIME." Screw all that. Oh well. Heading back to New York and will be there for a week. So if you live in the City then come check some shows out throughout the week. First one is on Wednesday at Galapagos in Brooklyn.

Anderson, Indiana 10.13.2007

ONOM and TDS are now in Anderson, Indiana. This "tour" really hasn't felt like a tour mainly because we havn't played any shows yet. It seems we are just traveling around the country to the most boring small towns trying to have fun. So far we have been successful at that.

Tonight our Hotel in Anderson, Indiana had a putt putt golf and games / batting cages right next door so we thought it would be a great idea to play some golf and hit some balls. yippee!
